This review is for one of my FAVORITE characters in the Transformers lore.....Galvatron. In the original animated movie, Galavatron is the reformatted version of Megatron after his final battle with Optimus Prime on Earth. A deadly world eating planet/robot named Unicron changed Megatron and a few other Decepticons in hopes that they would comply and become his subordinates.
In Season 3 of the original Transformers cartoon, it seemed that the reformatting process made Galavatron insane in the membrane and he became unhinged. I'm not a big fan of that part, but hey...I didn't write the series. In IDW's continuity, Galavatron is a separate character from Megatron and hails from years and years of being a gladiator and would-be leader of the Decepticons. I haven't read all the issues of the IDW comic, but that's the gist of what I read.
Below, are a few pictures of Galavatron in his previous incarnations:

I don't think there's ever been a version of Galvatron that captured what he looked like in his debut. Until now. Galvatron is part of the Titans Return line and I have to say that this is probably the closest we'll get to what he looked like in the movie from Hasbro.

As for the figure itself, I'm really digging it. I know some will complain that the Headmaster feature doesn't really work with this figure and I'm pretty sure that a third party company will probably make a replacement head that is a 360 degree version of the actual head. But, at this time, I'm good with this version.

Overall, great figure! I've never owned a Galvatron and my wife ended up picking this up for me as an early birthday present. What a sweetheart!
